DUBAI MARINA TRIP

So I decided to take two taxis and an hour train ride to get to Marina Dubai. It was sooo worth it. So modern, fresh, and the smell of the ocean just brings me back to happier days!

Walk through Madinat Jumeriah, Dubai

Took a stroll in Madinat Jumeriah and guess what I saw, Burj el Arab!

Veronica Beard

Every night, after a long day of walking, getting inspired, eating, and of course, sweating( its summer in the Middle East so its gonna happen), I like to come home to my small rented room in Sharjahs most famous street, and search for a bit of fashion Inspiration. I have come across New York based fashion Brand Veronica Beard and Ill say, New York Fashion, I miss you and I love you. If I wasnt so afraid of Sharjah Fashion Police( they arrest inappropriate dressers aka skirt above the knee/tanks), I would so hop into one of these looks

Breezy Days

So for the last few days, Ive been thinking about my senior collection. Im thinking, laid back, throw something on that makes you feel unique, a beautified rebel, Chic.

My internship Cont.

Its been a while so I guess I should post some pics of my experience. Sorry for the delay. After a long day at AIISHA office, I just kinda wanna chill and not blogg....

More From Sharjah and a glimpse of Aiisha

So the weekened came and went, what did I do, go to the office. Yes, on a weekened. lol. Thats okay. Saturday was my first day and I met the great team of Aiisha. The designer herself I have not met yet(Fashion Show in Paris), but the staff of five men and one women( amazing and sweet head pattern maker and cutter Aceli aka Sally) all with different backgrounds, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indian and Philippines, and now me, Haitian American, are all really great and very talented. One man is only 24, I hope we will be friends, if that is allowed here.lol

A glimpse of the office( Not showing anything else :)

Finally Settled in Sharjah

Hey guys! So I was able to land an awesome internship with high end label Aiisha by the sweet and talented Aiisha Ramadan. Located in Sharjah, UAE, I took the big leap across the sea and desert to spend my summer learning from the brand. My first week at Sharjah was HORRIBLE! And this had nothing to do with the internship, more so, I was basically stuff in a foreign place with nowhere to go since my roomate bailed on me. I had to stay in a hostel for five nights. First two nights I stayed in Dubai Youth Hostel for 200 dirhams a night(54 usd) and the next three days in Sharjah Rolla area where their is men men men everywhere! I am sure, for every ten blocks, there was one women on the street.

Anyway, I didnt care about the stares, and mind you, I was fully covered as im not the typical western girl who travels to the middle east and wants to still wear short shorts. No! I was fully covered and still got stares. lol. Anywho, this is all over. I found an apartment to stay in( friend of a friend) with a room to myself, but no bed, only a mattress( I feel like im a true beduion) but this is fine with me. sleeping on lower ground is best in this hot weather.

Anyway, below are some pics of Sharjah. Although my first week here was horrible, I have to admit, its beautiful here!

Me Body Covered but still FASHION

Sharjah Heritage Area(Next time I come in this area, I hope because its willingly, not because im apartment-less and staying at Youth Hostel)

(Clean but so glad Im out of there. I will miss the guy who runs the place, always looking at me like I have no clue if my host will contact me. He was right. )

My Zara JACKET Obsession

So I walked into Zara this week( I was looking for a dress for an interview) and I was blown away by their jackets instead. Sadley, I did not have Zara money due to my status as a broke college student, but anywho...Zara never fails to leave me breathless. There was a huge tribal theme going on, an ethnic feel that I loved! Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

The Mataano Girls

Twin Fashion Stars Idyl Mohallim and Ayaan Mohallim, beautiful and talented designers of fashion label Mataano!

Arab Spring...and I'm not talking politics

There has been a wave of creative fashion labels that has sprung straight from the Middle East. From DAS to AIISHA, Selina Farooqui, to my latest find, Anotah, who is based in Kuwait. At first, it was their ads that got me. Big props to their photographer! Then I had a closer look at their clothes and fell in love with their unique mix of textures, colors, and prints. Below are my faves from their latest collection!

My favorite of Anotah...their Kids/Junior collection! Maybe its because I can pass as a child :), but I am just loving the sophistication that Anotah gives to young girls while keeping the children young and appropriate!

Keep it Stylin girls!...keep it stylin
